The Heatwave Alternate Universe

During a once-in-100-year historic heat wave, Aardvark Heights is affected by a strange cosmic event that drives a massive boost to fertility in the region. Everyone simply becomes a much, much better breeder, and more compatible. The cosmic event suppressed all concern about pregnancy until after the Heatwave had passed. For a mere week in the dead of summer, there were no worries about pregnancy, safe times, cycles or compatibility; nor even a thought about using protection. STDs are, generally, not a concern in BtF anyway; barrier devices are almost entirely reserved for birth control strategy.

It wouldn't be until months after "The Heatwave" that it would be dubbed that colloquial name, after analysts tracked an enormous spike in pregnancies and fertility back to this two-week period. Decades later, the scientific community is still unable to explain what, exactly, happened during those two weeks in July, 1994. By the turn of the century, the research is well underway and while the cause yet remains a mystery, the ongoing effects of the denizens of Aardvark Heights, Missouri are well documented.

 

Acute effects were observed in both males and females of at least minimum reproductive maturity:

• Acute effects of the Heatwave manifested in females by a diabolical pseudo-heat cycle that subtly urges them into getting themselves impregnated by any means necessary. Reports state that their scent changed, and speculation suggests it was enhanced by pheromones that made their scent irresistible to sexually mature males. Reports state they craved intimacy and sex, and were quick to jump at the opportunity for either. Subjects from the observation group also report that they felt to have their wits fully about them and, in those moments, everything seemed normal and commonplace. There may have been a sense of extra fun, or a more spontaneous, possibly out of character connection made for some, and some really great sex - but as far as reported perception, all activities were fully of their own volition and will, nothing felt different or had changed.
• In males, the Heatwave's acute effects caused them to be even more drawn to intimacy and sex than usual. Observational group members have reported they felt intoxicated by the altered scents of nearby females. Male fertility was enhanced tenfold, increasing both their potency and the volume of their ejaculation alongside improved erection strength, stamina, and nearly negated refractory periods. Their own natural scent was reported to have changed as they became more universally compatible mates, helped along by the (weather) heatwave to be expressed and attract females to them.

Additional chronic effects have been observed in both males and females who were still in puberty, prepubescent, and conceived during the Heatwave:

• In males, fertility has been highly potentiated. Sperm analysis has found high motility and counts, and seminal volume is dramatically increased from their species baseline as subjects have aged to maturity. (Average 3741mL/day ejaculatory volume across full observation group.) Erection strength remains much higher than species baselines, and refractory periods are near negligible. Social observations have found similar developmental changes in their presentation socially; They are markedly disinhibited, often preoccupied with sex (more than would be typical), and masturbate on average 3.7 times per day if no sexual partner is available. Their social affects have lead to the colloquial derogatory use of the term “Heatwave-brained” being used to reference people exhibiting these long-term effects.
• In females, estrus cycles last longer, and come with much shorter breaks between. Fluids production is increased with female ejaculation ubiquitous amongst the sample population. Orgasm from Heatwave-affected females is achieved 30% faster on average than control groups, with stronger internal muscle contractions thought to help with seminal uptake. Additionally, cervical plasticity is dramatically improved, with many in the test group comfortably undergoing cervical dialation of 34mm after baseline arousal had been achieved. Similar to the male observation group, females exhibit disinhibition, increased sexualized social affect and preoccupation with sex and sexuality, though to a moderately lesser degree than males. Observers agree that social pressures are the cause for this group's increased caution against getting pregnant, (or pregnant again) and that this is in fact an overcorrection due to societal pressures against single motherhood.
